WanderNotes 1.52.0

A graph view of your folders: see how they nest, rearrange them by drawing lines between them, and open or create notes without leaving the canvas.

2 September 2026

The folder tree in the sidebar shows your folders one branch at a time. This release adds a second way to see them: a graph that lays out every folder at once, with lines running from each parent to its children. You can also reorganise from the graph, so moving, renaming and deleting folders works there too. It's a desktop feature and opens as a panel alongside your notes and conversations.

✨ What's new

  • A graph of your folders. Open it from the new Graph icon in the left rail, from Go to Graph view in search, or with Mod+G. Every folder is a card showing its name and how many notes it holds, arranged top to bottom by nesting. Only one graph panel exists at a time, so opening it again brings you back to the one already open.

  • Peek into a folder without leaving the graph. Click a folder card to expand it into a list of its notes, most recently edited first, each with how long ago it changed. Clicking a note opens it in a new panel next to the graph, and New note at the bottom of the list creates one in that folder. One folder is expanded at a time; press Escape to collapse it.

  • Reorganise by drawing lines. Drag from the bottom of one folder to the top of another to move the second folder inside the first. Select a line and press Delete to take a folder out of its parent and make it top-level. The graph won't let you move a folder inside itself or one of its own subfolders, and tells you so if you try.

  • Folder actions on the card. Selecting a folder shows a small toolbar with New note, Rename folder and Delete folder. Renaming opens a dialog. Deleting asks first and tells you exactly what will go, e.g. "3 folders and 12 notes will be permanently deleted." Any open panels showing those notes close. A New folder button in the corner adds a top-level folder, and an empty graph offers one too.

  • A layout you can arrange yourself. Drag cards wherever you like and the graph remembers where you put them in this browser. Reset layout in the zoom controls puts everything back in the automatic arrangement.

🧹 Under the hood

  • Creating, moving and deleting folders now go through the same code in the sidebar tree, the notes page and the graph, so all three follow the same rules. In particular, they all use the same check that stops a folder being moved inside itself or its own subfolders.
